Judge challenges CalPERS over retirement benefits

A retired superior court judge is suing the pension system for failing to reimburse him for some contributions in what he calls the first suit of its kind.

A retired superior court judge is suing the California Public Employees Retirement System for failing to reimburse him for some retirement contributions - benefits CalPERS says the judge forfeited when he began receiving disability retirement payments.


According to the judge and his lawyer, this may be the first lawsuit to challenge how CalPERS interprets judges' retirement.
