Justices Agree to Consider Whether Disabilities Act Permits Lawsuits Against States

WASHINGTON - In a case involving a paraplegic man who crawled two flights of steps to reach a hearing in a courthouse that lacked an elevator, the Supreme Court on Monday agreed to consider whether the states may be sued for damages under the section of the Americans with Disabilities Act that bans discriminating against the disabled in providing programs or services.
