Criminal case raises civil pro se loophole issue

A slippery fraudster who for years has narrowly escaped serious criminal penalties may finally have run out of luck, according to federal authorities.

But Wednesday's arrest and arraignment of Michael D. "Mickey" Henschel also raises serious questions about a potential loophole in the handling of pro se cases that may leave self-represented parties vulnerable to exploitation.
