Wireless broadband use has spiked in recent years as smartphones, tablets and other Internet-enabled devices become ubiquitous in the United States.


Increasing the availability and speed of the networks that carry data to these devices has enjoyed broad support, and Internet access is now seen by many, including members of Congress, as a necessary addition to the national infrastructure.
