The value of a securities class action settlement took a nosedive in 2008, dropping by more than 50 percent, according to a new study by Menlo Park-based Cornerstone Research.

The value of a securities class action settlement took a nosedive in 2008, dropping by more than 50 percent, according to a new study by Menlo Park-based Cornerstone Research.

Settlements averaged $31.2 million per case in 2008 compared to $62.7 million per case in 2007.
