Circuit reverses jail sentence due to invasive body cavity search

Denouncing a "brutal and physically invasive" removal of drugs from a suspect at Long Beach City Jail, a 9th Circuit panel reversed the suspect's conviction and vacated the sentence he'd already served.

Denouncing a "brutal and physically invasive" removal of drugs from a suspect at Long Beach City Jail, a split 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel Monday reversed the suspect's conviction and vacated the sentence he'd already served.


Legal experts say the ruling could affect search procedures in the future.
