Appellate court knocks down EPA approval of gas plant

A unanimous 9th Circuit panel rules that the EPA wrongly applied outdated air quality standards to a proposed Central Valley facility.

A federal appellate court dealt a blow to a proposed natural gas plant in the Central Valley on Tuesday, ruling that the federal Environmental Protection Agency illegally relied on outdated air quality standards when it issued a permit for the project.
