SANTA ANA — A housing discrimination lawsuit targeting a Costa Mesa motel ordinance is headed to trial after an Orange County judge rejected a summary judgment or adjudication motion as “significantly defective.”

The decision by Superior Court Judge Sheila B. Fell focused on procedural errors in a challenge to a lawsuit that comes amid growing problems with affordable housing and homelessness in Orange County.
