Bill aimed at hitting pimps with civil penalties facing tough opposition

A bill targeting johns and pimps in child prostitution cases with civil penalties has run into difficulty in the state Legislature.

SACRAMENTO — A bill targeting johns and pimps in child prostitution cases with civil penalties has run into difficulty in the Legislature.

AB 1495 was introduced in February to allow district attorneys and city attorneys to seek civil penalties of up to $50,000 per act on behalf of victims of child prostitution and trafficking.
