International issues reach state family courts

The state of Oklahoma amended its constitution to prevent Shariah from being used in any legal proceeding in Oklahoma, for any reason. A court then enjoined the amendment as a clear violation of the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment protections. This sets up a classic confrontation between the political and judicial branches of government, and may well spawn dozens of scholarly articles about legal theory and history.
