Liu blasts court for pro-prosecution bias in death penalty cases

State's newest Supreme Court justice says decisions are lopsided, lax and speculative

SAN FRANCISCO - Justice Goodwin Liu took his colleagues on the state Supreme Court to task on Monday, writing that he has "serious doubt" about the court's jurisprudence in reviewing death penalty cases and questioning whether it has "maintained the proper level of vigilance."
