Bill to limit ADA suits passes hurdle

An effort to limit disability access lawsuits against California businesses passed its first legislative hurdle Tuesday.

An effort to limit disability access lawsuits against California businesses passed its first legislative hurdle Tuesday.

A majority of legislators on the Senate Judiciary Committee voted in favor of Senate Bill 1186. The bi-partisan piece of legislation seeks to place new limits on potential plaintiffs who demand payment in lieu of filing a lawsuit over non-compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
