AT&T-T-Mobile: The biggest deal that never was

Last March, Texas-based AT&T Inc. announced it had agreed to purchase Washington-based T-Mobile USA Inc. for $39 billion in what would have been the largest acquisition of the year. Nine months later, AT&T walked away with nothing.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda - didn't.


That was the story of Texas-based AT&T Inc.'s attempt to buy Washington-based T-Mobile USA Inc. for $39 billion in what would have been the largest acquisition of the year.


AT&T announced the proposed merger in March and nine months later, it ended up having to pay $4 billion to T-Mobile's parent company and walk away with nothing.
