Doskow - The impending retirement of Chief Justice William Rehnquist has inspired a great deal of speculation about whether either of the two true conservative associate justices presently on the court will be promoted to succeed him. Justice Clarence Thomas has said he is not interested. Justice Antonin Scalia, on the other hand, has been making a number of public appearances recently.
