California lawmakers blast State Bar over long-term lapses

Lawmakers said they were troubled that the agency failed to arrange for notifications when attorneys are arrested or to conduct background checks on all bar applicants.

State lawmakers said they are deeply disturbed that the State Bar has not signed a contract to be notified when attorneys are arrested as required by a law that became effective nearly three decades ago.
