9th Circuit dismisses False Claims Act lawsuit against for-profit university

In a unanimous decision, the 9th Circuit ruled Tuesday that an appeal brought by relators who filed a lawsuit alleging the University of Phoenix used an improper payment plan for counselors was untimely.

A lawsuit aiming to find a for-profit university responsible for making false statements to the government about compliance with a ban on incentive compensation died Tuesday thanks to a ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
