State Bar Chief Operating Officer Leah Wilson said increased racial diversity in the legal profession was a reason for a staff recommendation that a lower bar exam cut score be considered.
State Bar staff produced data Wednesday they said indicated that a reduced passing score on the California bar exam would provide the most benefit to racial minorities. Staff cited that information to recommend the agency consider lowering the pass line from 144 to 139.
