Monkey scores settlement, to the detriment of robots

The settlement reached between PETA and a nature photographer ends the famed “monkey selfie” case

A nature photographer locked in a legal battle with a selfie-snapping macaque finally has the monkey off his back.

But the settlement in the infamous “monkey selfie” case announced Monday has been met with disappointment by some intellectual property attorneys, who hoped a high court ruling could provide some much needed guidance on the authorship rights of non-humans, monkey or otherwise.
