Girl awarded $36.1M in lawsuit against school bus company

An 11-year-old girl was awarded $36.1 million for severe injuries she suffered when a car hit her as she tried to cross the street to board her school bus several years ago.

A San Bernardino County jury awarded an 11-year-old girl $36.1 million for severe injuries she suffered when a car hit her as she crossed the street to board a school bus.

The verdict, reached Thursday, endorsed the argument of plaintiff Isabella Escamilla Sanchez’s attorneys that the bus company was negligent for failing to report and prevent mid-street crossings.
