SACRAMENTO — Gov. Jerry Brown has rejected a bill that would have lowered the burden of proof in elder abuse cases, saying in his veto message that current laws are adequate.
AB 859 was a high-priority bill for the Consumer Attorneys of California, which, which alleged pressure from nursing home and healthcare lobbyists had led to the veto.
