A U.S. senator has introduced legislation to block a pharmaceutical company’s novel bid to transfer patents for its eye medication to a Native American tribe.
The bill is aimed at stopping Allergan PLC’s deal with the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe in New York, which is pursuing a motion to dismiss an ongoing review by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office of the patents, citing the tribe’s sovereign immunity.
