Without fanfare, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra has appealed a judge's ruling that rejected his wording of a ballot proposition on a new tax as misleading and erroneous.
SACRAMENTO — California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is not letting go of his fight over what ballot language voters will see when they decide next year whether to keep a new gas tax.
The proposed initiative seeks to repeal SB 1. Signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in April, the bill would increase the gas tax 12 cents a gallon and increase other fees to raise more than $50 billion over a decade for transportation infrastructure.
