Sailors’ class action on claim of radiation injuries dismissed

A federal judge in San Diego dismissed a class action brought by hundreds of U.S. sailors against a Tokyo-based electricity provider on jurisdictional grounds.

Hundreds of U.S. Navy sailors who helped evacuate people near the Fukushima Power Plant after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami had their class action for radiation injuries dismissed by a federal judge in San Diego who said the defendant Japanese electrical company’s connection to California was too tenuous.
