Pro athlete asks judge to protect identity in SEC fraud suit

A celebrity athlete pursuing a major dollar fraud case through the SEC has taken new aggressive measures to protect his identity from being disclosed to the public, according to filings made in federal court last week.

LOS ANGELES — A celebrity athlete pursuing a big-dollar fraud case through the Securities and Exchange Commission has taken aggressive measures to protect his identity from being disclosed, according to filings made in federal court.

Counsel for “Mr. A,” identified as a well-known professional athlete, urged a judge Thursday to impose a limited protective order to preserve privacy for him and his wife, identified as “Ms. A.”
