When the U.S. Supreme Court decided to hear arguments on President Donald J. Trump’s latest travel ban, justices asked for briefing on whether the nationwide order enjoining the program was too broad.

When the U.S. Supreme Court decided to hear arguments in one of the most contentious legal battles in the country since President Donald J. Trump took office, a conflict testing the legality of his latest travel ban, justices asked for briefing on whether the nationwide order enjoining the program was too broad.

The question came at the request of the government.
