New legislation package aims to increase protections for renters

A trio of bills introduced in the state Assembly aim to make it harder for landlords to evict renters as legislators face pressure to address the housing shortage that has driven up rental costs. The proposed legislation has divided attorneys representing property owners and those representing tenants.
