Baker who declined to make gay wedding cake argues for attorney fees

Because a Kern County judge’s ruling in favor of a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple was so sweeping, the defense argued at a hearing Wednesday that the case is over except for the attorney fees.

Because a Kern County judge's ruling in favor of a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple was so sweeping, the defense argued at a hearing Wednesday that the case is over except for the attorney fees.

But the state agency that sought an injunction against the baker argues that this proceeding is complete, but since there is no underlying civil complaint, it still has a year to file a true lawsuit.
