LOS ANGELES -- Todd McNair showed no emotion as he sat through seven days of testimony in his defamation trial against the NCAA, but on Thursday he started to silently weep minutes before he took the stand, and cracked again as he described his career falling apart after the scandal, which left him depressed and drove him to drink.

His attorneys patted him on the back while he sat in the first row prior to his testimony.
