A superior court judge who drew an election challenge after two months on the job is the first sitting judge in San Luis Obispo County to face an opponent in 40 years. In another race, a former prosecutor is coming out of retirement to try to take a seat from a judge he says is unfit.
There are 24 judicial races in Southern California, including eight in which a sitting judge is being challenged in the June 5 election.
