U.S. District Judge Manuel L. Real, who has often been at the center of controversy during his 52 years as a federal judge, will take senior status this November. His impending change in status comes two years after saying he did not think he should make the switch.
The 94-year-old jurist's final day as a full-time, active judicial officer of the Central District will be Nov. 4, according to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts' website.
