Federal judge remands Orange County jail informant lawsuit to state court

A federal judge on Monday remanded to state court a lawsuit over Orange County’s jail informant controversy, but he declined to require that the county pay the plaintiffs’ litigation fees.

SANTA ANA -- A federal judge on Monday remanded to state court a lawsuit over Orange County's jail informant controversy, but he declined to require that the county pay the plaintiffs' litigation fees.

"I think it's pretty clear I have no jurisdiction on this," said U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney. "I'm a little bit uncomfortable coming out saying that the removal was improper."
