Judge forbids immigration detention of minors suspected of some crimes

A federal judge in Los Angeles ordered the government to release minors who have admitted or are suspected of gang activity or other crimes from immigration detention facilities on Monday.

LOS ANGELES -- A federal judge on Monday ordered the government to release minors who have admitted to, or are suspected of, gang activity or other crimes from immigration detention facilities.

U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee also specifically ordered the government to remove minors from a Texas facility for minors brought into the U.S. illegally by saying she was enforcing a 20-year-old settlement.
