Firefighters’ ire boosts chances of state net neutrality bill

A court filing claiming that Verizon “throttled” data to firefighters fighting the Mendocino Complex fire in July has helped revive the prospects of a net neutrality bill that had been weakened through hostile amendments in June.

"Everybody loves firefighters" is an old adage in politics -- one Verizon Communications Inc. may have forgotten while trying to stop a pending net neutrality bill in the state Legislature.

News last week via a court filing that Verizon "throttled" data to firefighters fighting the Mendocino Complex fire in July has helped revive the prospects of SB 822. The bill was weakened through hostile amendments in June.
