Telecom trade groups sue to challenge the state’s net neutrality law

Trade groups representing the county’s largest telecommunications firms sued Wednesday to block California’s new net neutrality law.

SACRAMENTO — Trade groups representing the country’s largest telecommunications companies sued Wednesday to block California’s new net neutrality law.

But according to some attorneys, the Federal Communications Commission may have undermined preemption arguments by abandoning the regulatory field. The internet companies behind the latest suit, meanwhile, may have made it more difficult to win due to their own prior legal cases.
