Groups claim US policy will lead to slaughter of horses
The Animal Legal Defense Fund and American Wild Horse Campaign allege the Forest Service adopted a new policy to sell “federally-protected” wild horses “without limitation” in the Modoc National Forest, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court in Oakland last week.
Two animal advocacy groups sued the U.S. Forest Service and the Department of Agriculture, fearing a horse sale policy change will lead to their slaughter and human consumption.
