Jerry Brown, preparing to leave office in a week, has marked another milestone by becoming the first governor since 1930 to have a pardon overturned by the state Supreme Court.
The state high court's decision to block the pardon of a twice-convicted felon was a rare stumble in Gov. Jerry Brown's race to grant clemencies as his term nears end.
During his current eight-year term, Brown has granted more than 1,100 pardons, his office said. He has also commuted 152 sentences, almost three times as many as any other governor.
