Some have criticized Facebook's policy as too narrow and advocate for broader prohibitions addressing not just the sophisticated deepfake technology, but low-tech yet still misleading "cheapfakes" or "shallowfakes" such as the slowed-down video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that went viral last year.
