DOJ moves to to seize a billion in Bitcoin

David L. Anderson, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of California, filed a complaint for forfeiture on Thursday.

The U.S. Department of Justice has moved to seize $1 billion in Bitcoin associated with the takedown of the Silk Road online marketplace. From 2011 to 2013, thousands of buyers and sellers used Silk Road to sell drugs, weapons, stolen credit card numbers, hacking services and more.
