Injury firm says it was cheated out of referral fees

According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court last week, the Dominguez Firm signed a referral agreement with Layfield & Barret to take over a case involving the Villegas family in a claim against the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department for injuries allegedly sustained during a car chase.

A personal injury law firm has claimed it was subjected to a fraudulent scheme by other law firms after not receiving more than $1 million in referral fees.

The defendants responded that they helped the plaintiff deal with the criminal conduct of a lawyer accused of stealing money from clients.
