SEC administrative law judge can’t handle fraud case

The Monday decision was an attempt to expand a challenge to the authority of SEC administrative law judges to decide securities fraud cases internally, a position critics argue is unconstitutional.

The U.S. Supreme Court denied a writ petition seeking to reverse a federal appellate court ruling permitting a Securities and Exchange Commission administrative law judge to handle a securities fraud case.
