Supreme Court again tells State Bar to look at bias against Black male attorneys

Gregory Harper is challenging his disbarment citing two studies that show Black male attorneys in California are more likely to be disciplined and receive harsher punishment.

A disbarred lawyer will have his case reviewed for the second time after the state Supreme Court sent back a disbarment recommendation for the State Bar's hearing department to investigate whether the attorney was subject to discriminatory discipline practices.

The disbarred lawyer, Gregory Harper, who represented himself, argued that his law license should be reinstated. He was disbarred in 2019.
