US to rescind rule on religious exemptions for contractors

An assistant U.S. attorney unveiled the plan Tuesday in a memo asking a Southern District of New York judge to stay proceedings in a lawsuit that had been filed against the Department of Labor.

The U.S. Department of Labor says it will roll back a rule that expanded the types of federal contractors who can claim a religious exemption from anti-discrimination laws.
