$77M verdict for flight attendants is reversed, some claims upheld

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel on Tuesday affirmed much of U.S. District Judge Jon S. Tigar’s decision, rejecting — as another 9th Circuit panel did earlier this month — arguments by the airline that California law should not apply even though the workers spent much of their work hours outside the state.

A 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel partially reversed a $77 million verdict in favor of flight attendants who won a 2019 case in Oakland federal court but ruled in favor of the plaintiffs on several key claims.
