Firms’ diversity programs have multiplied

Law firms have launched internal and external diversity initiatives to address the issue, such as the creation of chief diversity officer positions, new pro bono projects, scholarship and fellowship programs and initiatives to tackle internal biases within firm structures, such as equity certifications.

Renewed commitments to diversity in the legal profession and at the firm level in the past year are seen as steps in the right direction, according to several experts, but there are questions about whether it’s enough to create real change.
