NAACP, BLM protesters sue San Jose over alleged police action
Rachel Lederman, the plaintiffs’ lead attorney, said while the suit seeks unspecified compensatory damages and a court order directing the police department to change its policies around how police are trained and directed to respond to protests, plaintiffs are largely trying to prohibit officers from shooting what police often call “less lethal” ammunition into crowds.




The NAACP and a proposed class of Black Lives Matter protesters sued San Jose and its police department Thursday, alleging police leadership directed officers to intentionally and unlawfully beat, shoot and arrest minorities as a form of racially-targeted repression during protests that erupted at City Hall last summer.
