Title insurance company must file extra fees with state before charging them
The dispute concerns fees charged by title insurance companies to consumers for ancillary services such as overnight document delivery, courier service and drawing up a deed.




In a victory for homeowners, the state Supreme Court on Thursday ruled against a title insurance company that had charged extra fees in a mortgage refinancing without filing them with the state's insurance commissioner.
The decision, written by Justice Leondra R. Kruger, reversed a ruling by a 6th District Court of Appeal panel in favor of Fidelity National Title Co.
