Tom Girardi’s son-in-law files claim against bankrupt law firm

Attorney David Lira cited California Labor Code Section 2802, which requires an employer to “indemnify his or her employee for all necessary expenditures or losses” incurred in direct consequence of their work.

Thomas V. Girardi’s son-in-law, attorney David R. Lira, filed a $150,000 claim against the firm Girardi Keese in bankruptcy court.

In a claim filed Monday, Lira cited California Labor Code Section 2802, which requires an employer to “indemnify his or her employee for all necessary expenditures or losses incurred by the employee in direct consequence of the discharge of his or her duties, even though unlawful,” unless the worker knew...
