Family sues LAPD, says excessive tasing led to heart attack

Representing the family, Marina del Rey civil rights attorney V. James DeSimone compared the officers’ use of force to those of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin.

The family of a man who died in custody filed a wrongful death lawsuit in federal court Tuesday against the city of Los Angeles and its police department, saying officers excessively tased the man, sending him into cardiac arrest.
