Farmers’ temporary injunction request to halt pay increase ordinance is denied

U.S. District Judge John W. Holcomb of the Central District of California ruled Tuesday the growers’ arguments that the Coachella city ordinance would make harvesting crops uneconomical did not meet the standard to prove immediate harm.

A federal judge denied farming groups' temporary restraining order request to halt a city ordinance requiring $4 per hour pay increases for agricultural and other workers.

U.S. District Judge John W. Holcomb of the Central District of California ruled Tuesday the growers' arguments that the Coachella city ordinance would make harvesting crops uneconomical did not meet the standard to prove immediate and irrevocable harm.
