Probable cause or fishing? US agents seize valuables from safe deposit

Attorneys concealed plaintiffs’ names in the complaint because they say the government has indicated it will criminally investigate them once their identities are revealed. The attorneys say they represent “at least 600 class members” whose constitutional and property rights were infringed by the search and seizure.

Federal agents unlawfully seized gold, cash and other valuables from at least 600 people in a raid on secure deposit boxes at a Beverly Hills store, according to a lawsuit filed by a proposed class of anonymous plaintiffs.

The allegations in a 17-page complaint filed in the Central District of California on Thursday describe the raid as an unconstitutional infringement of the plaintiffs' Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights. The filing...
